About us

Civic Atlas was born out of frustration with how hard it is to follow real estate and construction activity. Our founder John was working as an urban planner and spent hours each week reading public meeting agendas to track projects in Dallas. During the pandemic, he learned to code and realized that this work could be automated.

He built a prototype of Civic Atlas and was accepted into the DesignX startup accelerator while completing a masters degree at MIT. Since then, Civic Atlas has raised funding to expand the team and begin building a platform that makes it easy to see how American cities are growing and building for the future.
